Our award-winning Expressions Dance Company has already held auditions for the 2024-2025 season.

- Please wear a solid color leotard and tan tights to the audition - no shorts, leggings, t-shirts, tank tops, sweats, etc. will be permitted.
- Have your hair neatly pulled back out of your eyes in a bun or ponytail and do not wear any jewelry other than small earrings.
- Bring all of your dance shoes and be prepared for any genre!
- You do not need to prepare anything for the auditions, just be ready to learn material and demonstrate technique such as turns, kicks, leaps, and splits.
- Depending on the number of dancers, we may run over-time. Please be patient as we will do our best to stay on schedule but may need to see each group a little longer than anticipated.
- Some dancers may be asked to stay and audition with the next age group, so be prepared to stay if asked.
- Auditions are closed -- this means no parent/friend/family/ observation. -
- Company members must show maturity, have an awesome attitude, and be willing to work hard. They should show energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for dance. Discipline problems are not tolerated within the dance company. We encourage our company members to be dedicated, supportive, and show the utmost respect to their instructors and each other.
- Strong dance technique is essential to being a company member. We are looking for dancers who have good turns, leaps, and kicks. Flexibility, grace, poise, pointed feet, straight legs and good use of arms are examples of the technique we strive to achieve!
- Comprehension and memorization of dance steps is also a must! You will be learning a lot of choreography that you have to retain quickly and not forget. Performing the choreography with energy, emotion, and pizzazz is crucial to being a successful company dancer.

Premiere
o Ages 7 & up
o Required to take 4 Studio technique classes appropriate for age and level. These classes will be Ballet, Jazz, and Acro plus at least one elective offered such as Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical or Musical Theatre (schedule and classes offered TBA).
o Will have an additional 1.5 hour Company class to further work on technique and choreography
o May take any additional studio electives offered such as Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Pom.
o Dancers may be placed into SCAD (Strength & Conditioning + Acro Dance) by teacher evaluation.
o Will perform at local community events
o Will have 1 required competition dance
o Will have the option to join the Production competition dance (extra class required)
o Required to compete at 2 competitions (Austin or DFW area)
o One required Dance Convention (DFW area)
o Will be included in Company recitals, parties, events, etc.
Ensemble
o Ages 5 & up
o Required to take 3 Studio technique classes appropriate for age and level. These classes will be Ballet and Jazz plus at least one elective offered such as Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical or Musical Theatre (schedule and classes offered TBA).
o Will have an additional 1 hour Company class to further work on technique and choreography
o May take any additional studio electives offered such as Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Pom.
o Will perform at local community events
o Will not compete
o May optionally attend a Dance Convention (DFW area)
o Will be included in Company recitals, parties, events, etc.
Elite
o Ages 7 & up
o Required to take 4 Studio technique classes appropriate for age and level. These classes will be Ballet, Jazz, and Acro plus at least one elective offered such as Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical or Musical Theatre (schedule and classes offered TBA).
o Will have an additional 1.5 hour Company class to further work on technique and choreography
o May take any additional studio electives offered such as Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Pom.

My daughter loves going to dance at Expressions!
In her own words- “When I dance I feel like I can be me. When I step out on the stage, I feel confident and strong- not wriggly. My teachers teach me to dance and then I just dance.” I am so glad she has found what makes her heart sing and that we found a studio that brings out the best side of her!

I love it ...present tense ! I can't say enough about this dance studio!
The teachers are top notch and so kind and encouraging. Their ability to teach the children and teens surpassed all I expected. And they put so much time work and thought into the recitals and competitions from the choreography to the costumes , from the wee little babes up to company. I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else!
